ABSTRACT

In this study, a complex network method was employed to quantify the changing role of countries in fish trade and the dynamic characteristics of fish globalization. Based on the United Nations Comtrade Database, the International Trade Network for Fish and Fish Products (ITN-Fish) was constructed as a series of weighted-directed networks for each year from 1990 to 2018. Almost all countries and territories worldwide have participated in the fish trade. In 2018, the network identified 229 fish traders. The share of developing countries in imports and exports has increased. Traders actively establish new trade relations, which improve network connectivity. However, these relations only account for a small part of the fish trade. The high connectivity allows risks to spread rapidly in the world through hubs such as the United States and China, which raises concerns about the robustness of these weak links in the Sino-US trade conflict and the outbreak of COVID-19. However, we have optimistic expectations on this issue. The dynamic of network topology property shows that the globalization of fish trade flourished between 1990 and 2018. Although, due to the financial crisis and its subsequent impact, the total amount of fish trade declined in 2009 and 2015, the network structure was not seriously affected, and the trend of topology property remained unchanged. Based on the construction of the international trade network, its node attribute, and its structural attribute, fish trade maintains the trend of globalization. Countries should actively adhere to trade globalization to promote the development of the fish trade.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to transportation systems in various aspects, such as transferring patients and medical resources, enforcing physical distancing in public transportation, and controlling virus transmission through transportation networks. To address these challenges, a variety of artificial intelligence technologies, such as autonomous driving, big data analytics, intelligent vehicle routing and scheduling, and intelligent traffic control, have been employed in the design of intelligent transportation systems. This Special Issue provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to present the most recent advances in presenting and applying intelligent technologies to promote transportation systems in large-scale epidemics.

ABSTRACT

With the normalization of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control, there is an urgent need to develop a healthy urban public space. However, because of the fast urbanization process with a series of problems, such as PM2.5 air pollution, the Urban Heat Island, and the relatively high frequency of static winds under the influence of its topography, the ventilation problem in the public spaces of Chengdu is of great importance. Along these lines, in this work, the history of theoretical research on urban ventilation is summarized and reviewed first to evaluate the urban wind environment. Second, so far, qualitative methods are mainly adopted for the evaluation methods of microclimate adaptation. However, the practical application has achieved few results. Meanwhile, there is still a lack of comprehensive and unified research on the multi-element of human microclimate comfort in public space. For this reason, the urban ventilation assessment system was established in this work according to the physical, physiological, and psychological aspects, with 9 indices selected and ranked. Then, an optimization strategy for rebuilding the urban public space was proposed for improving the wind environment microclimate adaption on three levels: macro city-regional level, meso block linear space, and micro space node. By taking Eastern Banlieue Memory Industrial Park as an example, the statistical data were systematically investigated on the spot from the results of 249 wind environment questionnaires, and 30 Delphi expert consultation questionnaires. Combined with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation, the results reveal that most public spaces in the study area were below 0.6 m/s in more than 80% of the public space, and wind-based environmental problems obviously exist without any ventilation improvement measures. Combined with the background of the carbon peak era, the ventilation environment of the urban public space is not conducive to using active ventilation equipment. The solution of a complete set of regional intelligent ventilation systems was thoroughly discussed here, while some innovative sustainable systematic solutions and urban ventilation furniture combined with a geothermal heat pump and cloud data platform were formulated.

ABSTRACT

The traceability of COVID-19 is of great importance for Epidemiological implications. Two robust and non-parametric traceability methods were employed in the study to evaluate COVID-19's traceability for the prevention of epidemics. We first corrected the initial dates for eight countries using Solow and smith's method, and then the OLE method was applied to the corrected dataset for traceability. Our model suggests that the first global case of COVID19 originated on 25 September 2019 (95%CI 23 September) and that the first case emerged in Europe and spread rapidly to neighbouring countries, expanding globally in early January 2021. Our study suggests that the spread of the epidemic may be more rapid and earlier than we thought. The two methods we use can be used in a robust traceability approach for small sample estimates, providing additional explanations for epidemic traceability studies.

ABSTRACT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutions around the world have closed, affecting more than 60% of students and causing massive disruption to the education system. Taiwan is no exception. For this sudden and dramatic change, teachers, students, and parents all confront significant challenges. In order to make specific suggestions for improvement, the study aims to explore the current state of e-learning in Taiwan and to understand the difficulties faced by teachers, parents, and students. The study conducted in-depth interviews with 20 teachers, 12 parents, and 24 students. The research results show that in New Taipei City, there are barely any online courses for grades 1 and 2, blended learning is mainly for grades 3 and 4, and synchronous e-learning is designed for grades 5 and 6. The main challenges in adopting e-learning in primary schools include, as follows: (i) Teachers, parents, and students are unfamiliar with the user interface of the e-learning platform. (ii) Insufficient hardware and software equipment at home. (iii) Teachers cannot take care of special students. (iv) Communication between teachers and parents is not smooth. (v) Difficulty in assessing learning progress online. (vi) Students are easily distracted from their studies. ABSTRACT

This study investigated the effects of integrating the “CloudClassRoom” (CCR) and the DEmo-CO-design/teach-feedback-DEbriefing (DECODE) model to improve pre-service teachers’ online technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK). The DECODE model includes four stages: Teacher’s DEmonstrations, Students CO-train in using CloudClassRoom, Students CO-design a CloudClassRoom-integrated course, Students CO-teach, and finally DE-brief what they have learned through the stages mentioned above. This model integrates teacher-student experiences, teaching-learning processes, and technology-embedded systems to promote collaborative and active learning, information and resources sharing, and creative communication. A self-evaluating questionnaire with open-ended questions evaluated participants’ technological pedagogical and content knowledge outcomes. CloudClassRoom significantly increases technology-related knowledge considering the current social distancing measures provoked by COVID-19. The findings show that DECODE with CloudClassRoom provides an integrated process for improving pre-service teachers’ technological pedagogical and content knowledge, assisting pre-service teachers in designing educational technology-integrated courses. © 2022 by the authors. ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the contamination status of SARS-CoV-2 in imported frozen seafood from a Russia cargo ship in Qingdao and to analyze the risk factors for infection in local stevedores. Methods: The method of "two-stage, full coverage and mixed sampling" was used to collect the seafood packaging samples for the nucleic acid detection of SARS-CoV-2 by real-time fluorescent quantitative RT-PCR. A unified questionnaire was designed to investigate 71 stevedores in two shifts through telephone interview. The stevedores were divided into two groups, with 23 in the shit with two infections was group A and 48 in the shift without infection was group B. Software Epi Info7.2 was used to identify the risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infections in the stevedores. Results: In the frozen seafood from a Russia cargo ship, the total positive rate of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid in the frozen seafood was 11.53% (106/919). The positive rate of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid in the frozen seafood unloaded by group A (14.29%,70/490) was significantly higher than that in the frozen seafood unloaded by group B (8.39%,36/429)(χ2=7.79,P=0.01) and the viral loads detected in the frozen seafood unloaded by group A were higher than those detected in the frozen seafood unloaded by group B. The scores of personal protection and behaviors in the stevedores in group A were significantly lower than those in group B (P<0.05), and toilet use, smoking and improper hand washing before meals were the risk factors for the infection. Conclusions: The imported frozen seafood was contaminated by SARS-CoV-2 and the contamination distribution was uneven. Supervision and management of personal occupational protection and behaviors of workers engaged in imported frozen food transportation should be strengthened. It is suggested that a closed-loop monitoring and management system for the whole process of "fishing-transport- loading/unloading" should be established by marine fishery authority.

ABSTRACT

In 2020, the unexpected outbreak of COVID-19 has brought a new challenge to education and provided a revolutionary opportunity to integrate ideas for building an information society. Meanwhile, the new learning mode of home-based online learning has imposed new requirements on university students;on the other hand, the question of how to improve the learning effect has also led to new thinking for teachers. On this basis, this paper conducts in-depth exploration from the perspective of students' self-efficacy, extending the four dimensions of online learning: A sense of effort, a sense of control, a sense of participation, and a sense of environment. Following this, we analyze and study the five factors of learning attitude, learning strategy, learning interaction, learning evaluation, and learning environment. At the end of the study, four strategies are given to improve the effectiveness of learning. First, they stimulate students' sense of independent and autonomous learning under a sense of effort. Second, students' self-management ability is cultivated under a sense of control. Third, each student is given the opportunity to better reflect the characteristics of diversity in the process of participating in interactive learning. Fourth, the great advantage of intelligence in online classrooms is demonstrated in the existing teaching environment. © 2021 Taiwan Academic Network Management Committee. All rights reserved.
